AMCA’s purpose is to promote education about and interest in the profession of law, legal policy, the United States Constitution, and the American judiciary among undergraduate students at American colleges and universities. To accomplish this purpose, AMCA organizes and administers national oral and written moot court competitions for undergraduate students and seeks to develop an alumni network of individuals with continuing interest in legal issues. In providing collegiate-level moot court activities, AMCA desires to create practical opportunities for college students to engage with case law, hone legal reasoning and the application of law to facts, develop and communicate their own legal arguments before a panel of judges subject to time constraints, answer questions about the arguments they present, and demonstrate appropriate courtroom demeanor and forensic skill.
